Text WYSH to 90210 __________________________________________________________________ NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Sunday at Michigan...Greg Biffle won for the first time this season, racked up Jack Roush's track record 13th win at Michigan and gave Ford its 1000th NASCAR win. Being chased by Jimmie Johnson late in the race, Biffle was able to breathe a sigh of relief when the points leader cut a right side tire with two laps to go and smacked the wall. Biffle beat Kevin Harvick to the finish line by over three seconds. Harvick was second, with Martin Truex Jr., Kyle Busch and Tony Stewart completing the top five. Despite his 28th place finish, Johnson left Michigan with a 31-point lead in the series standings over Carl Edwards. The race is closer now, though, as several drivers are now within 100 points of Johnson heading to the road course Sonoma this Sunday. NASCAR Nationwide Series Saturday at Michigan...Regan Smith, the series points leader, held off hard-charging rookie Kyle Larson Saturday to win for the second time this season. In the process, and coupled with Sam Hornish Jr.'s engine troubles, Smith widened his lead in the series standings to 58 over Hornish and 59 over Justin Allgaier. Larson finished in second, followed by Paul Menard, Kyle Busch and Knoxville's own Trevor Bayne. CHS Football Camp: The Clinton High School Football Youth Camp will be held June 17th through the 21st at the Clinton High School football practice field from 6 to 8 pm each night, except Wednesday when there will be no camp to avoid any possible church conflicts. The camp is open to all football players of any age and costs $50. You can register at 5:30 pm at the school on the first day of the camp, Monday June 17th. Southern League Baseball: The Smokies wrapped up the first half of the season with a 2-1 win at home over Mississippi on Monday and finished with a record of 34-35. The second half begins Wednesday night at Chattanooga. _____________________________________________________________________ HIGH SCHOOL TRACK CHAMPIONS: Congratulations to Clinton High School's Vicki Franse, who won the state title in the 400 meter dash last week, and to the Maryville High School girls' 4 x 800 meter relay team, which took the top spot in that event as well.
